About Wedding Player
Our background
Wedding Player was built by Don McAllister for his daughter Nicola's wedding on 22 March 2026, after no existing app could run her ceremony music the way she wanted: mixing Apple Music with trimmed local files, offline, with fades a nervous friend could trust. It worked on the day; the venue co-ordinator asked for a copy unprompted. That personal project became the app couples and wedding professionals use today.

Wedding Player is a wedding ceremony music app that lets couples and wedding professionals plan, cue, and play ceremony music offline (with locked Live Mode, trims, and one-tap fades) so the day runs exactly as planned without a DJ for the ceremony.
What Wedding Player does
Ceremony timeline and moments
Build a moment for each part of the day (prelude, processional, signing, recessional, drinks, reception) with its own tracks, loops, and fades. The running order matches the ceremony, not a flat playlist.
Mix Apple Music, Originals, and your own files
On iOS, mix Apple Music tracks with custom MP3/M4A/WAV files and included Wedding Player Originals (65 licensed instrumentals) in one timeline. Generic players can't do that mix; Apple Music alone can't either.
Live Mode for whoever presses play
Hand the phone to a friend or venue co-ordinator. Live Mode locks the playlist behind oversized controls so the wrong song or wrong version isn't one nervous tap away.
Fully offline on the day
Once tracks are downloaded, it works in airplane mode. Venue Wi-Fi and 4G don't get a vote at the processional.
Trim, fade, and volume control
Trim intros, set fade lengths, crossfade between moments, and normalise volume so quiet and loud tracks play at the same level. End the processional when the bride arrives, not when the track ends.
What makes Wedding Player different
Built for one unforgiving moment, not a party playlist
Spotify and Apple Music playlists are fine for the car. They don't give you locked operator mode, ceremony moments, readiness checks, or one-tap fades when the room runs long. Wedding Player does.
Couples pay once; no subscription tax
Couples unlock everything for £12.99 once. No auto-renew for that tier. Many wedding and music apps push monthly fees; couples here don't need one.
Mix streaming and local files in one ceremony (iOS)
Apple Music won't put custom-edited files in the same playlist as catalogue tracks. Wedding Player's engine does, which is why a trimmed processional and streaming favourites can live in one timeline.
Panic-proof Go Live check
Before Live Mode unlocks, the app checks downloads, battery, Do Not Disturb, and airplane mode. You can't start half-ready.
Made for a real wedding, not a brainstorm
It was built after twenty-plus years of Apple teaching work still couldn't make ceremony music reliable on an iPhone for a live aisle walk. Every feature came from that day.

Don founded Wedding Player under Prelude Apps Ltd. He previously built ScreenCastsOnline, teaching Apple products for over twenty years, and has spent forty years in tech. He is semi-retired and still leads the product day to day.

How Wedding Player works
- Download free on the App Store or Google Play and try the demo.
- Build moments for the day; add Apple Music (iOS), Wedding Player Originals, and/or your own files; trim and set fades.
- Download everything for offline; run the Go Live readiness check.
- On the day, anyone you trust runs Live Mode: locked playlist, big controls, one-tap fade when the room is ready.
- Connect to the venue PA via Bluetooth, aux, or USB (agree with the venue in advance).
- Couples unlock with a one-time £12.99 purchase. Professionals use the monthly or annual multi-wedding licence. Support is founder-led via the site / in-app channels.
