We're here to make sure your ceremony music is perfect.
How Wedding Player Works
What is Wedding Player?
- 1. Wedding Player is a ceremony music app designed for the day itself, not for streaming or discovery, but for reliable, offline playback when it matters most.
- 2. You build a playlist for each part of your ceremony (called a Moment), queue them in order, then hand the phone to your venue coordinator or a trusted friend.
- 3. On the day, one tap starts the music. No Wi-Fi required, no notifications, no surprises.
- 4. Wedding Player works with music from your own files, Apple Music, or our built-in collection of original ceremony tracks.
What is a Moment?
- 1. A Moment is a named section of your ceremony, for example Walking Down The Aisle, Signing the Register, or Recessional.
- 2. Each Moment has its own playlist of music tracks that play in order. The right music plays at exactly the right time, without any manual switching. And when the Moment ends, the music can be faded out with a simple tap, just when it's needed. The next moment is lined up automatically, ready to play with a single tap.
- 3. Wedding Player comes with six default Moments: Guests Arriving, Walking Down The Aisle, Signing The Register, The Couple Exit and Wedding Breakfast in the Daytime segment, plus Drinks Reception in the Evening segment. You can rename, reorder, add, or remove them to match your ceremony.
- 4. Moments are grouped into Daytime and Evening sections, so the app stays organised for longer celebrations.
Next Steps
- 1. Follow the detailed instructions below to start personalising your moments and tracks to fit your ceremony.
Getting Started
How do I set up my ceremony moments?
- 1. Tap the "Edit Moments" button next to Rehearsal Mode to open the Edit Moments screen.
- 2. You'll see the current list of moments organised into Daytime and Evening Sections. From this screen, you can delete a moment by tapping the trash icon at the end of the row, or drag to re-order.
- 3. To add a new moment, tap the "Add Moment" button.
- 4. Tap any moment to open it to rename it, or to move it to Daytime or Evening Segment and tap "Save Changes"
How do I add music to a moment? iOS
- 1. Tap any moment, then tap "Add Tracks" (on an empty moment) or "Edit Tracks" (once it has any).
- 2. Then choose Add Local Files to import existing files from the Files app (MP3, M4A, WAV, AIFF).
- 3. Or choose Add Originals to browse Wedding Player's built-in ceremony tracks.
- 4. Or choose Add Apple Music to search and add Apple Music tracks (an active Apple Music subscription is required).
- 5. Tracks play in order. Drag to reorder them within a moment.
How do I add music to a moment? Android
- 1. Tap any moment, then tap Edit.
- 2. Tap + Edit Tracks to import MP3, M4A, or WAV files from your device storage.
- 3. Or choose Originals to browse Wedding Player's built-in ceremony tracks.
- 4. Tracks play in order. Drag to reorder them within a moment.
How do I get music files onto my iPhone or iPad? iOS
- 1. Wedding Player plays MP3, M4A, WAV, and AIFF files stored on your device. Three easy ways to get them there:
- 2. iCloud Drive — Drop your music files into iCloud Drive on your Mac. They'll appear in the Files app on your iPhone or iPad and in Wedding Player's file picker.
- 3. AirDrop — Right-click a file on your Mac and AirDrop it to your phone. iOS will offer to save it to Files.
- 4. Mac Finder — Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac with a cable, open Finder, select your device in the sidebar, then drag music files into the Files section.
- 5. Tip: keep everything in a dedicated 'Wedding Music' folder in Files so it's easy to find on the day.
How do I get music files onto my Android device? Android
- 1. Wedding Player plays MP3, M4A, WAV, and AIFF files stored on your phone. Three easy ways to get them there:
- 2. Google Drive — On your computer, go to drive.google.com and upload your files. In Wedding Player's file picker, tap the menu icon (≡) and choose Google Drive — your files will appear there.
- 3. USB cable — Connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable. Swipe down on your phone and tap the USB notification, then choose File Transfer. Your phone appears as a drive on the computer; drag music into Music or Downloads.
- 4. Files by Google — Install Files by Google from the Play Store (free). Use it to move files from Downloads into a Music folder, or to open files directly from cloud services.
- 5. Tip: keep everything in a dedicated 'Wedding Music' folder so it's easy to find on the day.
How do I switch to Live Mode for the ceremony?
- 1. Tap Go Live when you're ready to hand over control.
- 2. Wedding Player runs a pre-flight check first, flagging any missing tracks or offline issues before switching to the large-control interface.
- 3. Fix any warnings before the ceremony. Don't dismiss them and hope for the best.
- 4. We recommend running through this during rehearsal so there are no surprises on the day.
How do I make Apple Music tracks available offline? iOS
- 1. Open the Offline Readiness checklist in the Settings page.
- 2. Any tracks not yet downloaded will show a warning.
- 3. Open the Apple Music app and access the Wedding Player Ceremony playlist. This playlist is created automatically for you and contains all of the tracks you have added to Wedding Player. Tap the download arrow in the header of the playlist.
- 4. Return to Wedding Player. Each track should show a gold tick.
- 5. Test playback in Airplane Mode the day before, not on the morning of the ceremony.
Why isn't Spotify supported?
- 1. Spotify doesn't allow third-party apps to play full-length tracks. Their developer terms restrict playback to 30-second previews unless the app is the Spotify app itself — which means a ceremony player built on Spotify would cut every track short before the meaningful moment.
- 2. Apple Music, by contrast, provides MusicKit, an Apple framework that gives third-party apps full-track playback for subscribers, including offline downloads. That's what Wedding Player uses on iOS.
- 3. If your music collection lives in Spotify, the workaround is to find each track on Apple Music (a one-month free trial covers a wedding) and add it through Add Apple Music inside Wedding Player.
- 4. Alternatively, export the tracks you own as MP3 or M4A files and import them via Add Local Files. Tracks you purchase outright (iTunes, Bandcamp, or a CD rip) work the same as any other local file.
How do I trim a track or add fade-in and fade-out? iOS
- 1. In rehearsal mode, tap Edit Tracks on the moment, then tap the scissors icon on any track row.
- 2. Drag the IN-POINT slider to set where the track should start playing, and the OUT-POINT slider to set where it should stop. The Duration field shows the length of the trimmed window.
- 3. Fade in at in-point ramps from silence to full volume over the duration set in Settings → Playback (default 5 seconds). Fade out at out-point does the reverse before the out-point.
- 4. Use From in-point and To out-point to spot-check the first or last 10 seconds, or Full trimmed clip to hear the whole edit with both fades applied. The countdown inside each button shows time remaining.
- 5. Tap Reset Trim at the bottom to clear everything and start over. Tap Save when you're happy. The original file or Apple Music track is unaffected — Wedding Player only stores your trim points.
Where to Find Music
I don't have Apple Music. Where can I buy tracks?
- 1. You don't need an Apple Music subscription to use Wedding Player. Tracks you own as MP3 or M4A files work just as well, and you can buy them outright from several stores directly on your phone.
- 2. DRM-free means the file is yours: no subscription, no copy-protection, no ongoing payment to keep it playable. Once downloaded, it lives on your device and Wedding Player imports it the same way it imports any local file.
- 3. The next items cover the easiest stores on iPhone and Android. Most chart tracks cost roughly 99p to £1.29 each, with full albums around £7.99 to £9.99.
- 4. For the full walkthrough with screenshots and step-by-step instructions, see weddingplayer.app/blog/how-to-add-music-to-wedding-player.
Buying tracks from the iTunes Store (iPhone) iOS
- 1. The iTunes Store app is built into every iPhone and iPad. If you don't see it on your Home Screen, swipe down and search for iTunes Store.
- 2. Open it, tap Search, and find the track or album you want. Tap the price next to a song to buy and download it. You'll be asked for Face ID or your Apple ID password.
- 3. Once purchased, the track lives in the Apple Music app under Library. iTunes Store purchases are DRM-free AAC files and have been since 2009, so the file is genuinely yours, with or without an Apple Music subscription.
- 4. To import into Wedding Player: open a moment, tap Add Tracks, choose Add Apple Music, and look for the track in your Library. The full walkthrough at weddingplayer.app/blog/how-to-add-music-to-wedding-player covers what to do if it doesn't appear.
Buying tracks from Amazon Music
- 1. Amazon still sells individual MP3s, but the standalone storefront URL is no longer signposted. You buy through the Amazon Music web player in your phone's web browser (Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android), not the Amazon Music app, because in-app purchase rules on both platforms block direct music sales inside that app.
- 2. Go to amazon.co.uk/music/player/ (or your country's Amazon Music site) and sign in with your Amazon account. Search for the track you want, then tap the three-dot menu next to it to open the sub-menu. You'll find a link to purchase the MP3.
- 3. Once purchased, download the file to your device. On iPhone, the file lands in Files under Downloads. On Android, it lands in your Downloads folder.
- 4. To import into Wedding Player: open a moment, tap Add Tracks or Edit Tracks, choose Add Local Files, and pick the file from Downloads.
Buying tracks from Qobuz
- 1. Qobuz is a UK-friendly music store with a strong mainstream catalogue including chart pop, classical, jazz and more. The Qobuz app on iPhone and Android lets you buy individual tracks directly, with no subscription required.
- 2. Install the Qobuz app from the App Store or Play Store and create a free account. Use the Store tab to search and buy tracks. MP3 is the safest choice for Wedding Player on both platforms (Qobuz also offers FLAC and Hi-Res, but iPhone doesn't accept FLAC).
- 3. Downloads land in the Qobuz library on your device. The Qobuz app then lets you export the downloaded MP3 to Files (iPhone) or your Downloads folder (Android).
- 4. In Wedding Player, open a moment, tap Add Tracks or Edit Tracks, choose Add Local Files, and pick the exported file.
Other DRM-free music stores
- 1. If none of the stores above has the track you want, 7digital (7digital.com) is a UK store that sells DRM-free MP3 and FLAC downloads through the web browser on both platforms.
- 2. On iPhone, choose MP3 or M4A downloads (iPhone doesn't accept FLAC). On Android, MP3, M4A or FLAC all work.
- 3. All purchases are yours to keep, with no subscription needed to keep playing them.
- 4. Full walkthrough for every store, with screenshots: weddingplayer.app/blog/how-to-add-music-to-wedding-player.
On The Day
What does the Pre-Ceremony Readiness check do?
- 1. When you tap Go Live, Wedding Player shows a Pre-Ceremony Readiness sheet before switching to the large-button operator interface. It flags anything that could cause a silent failure on the day, then asks you to confirm a short operator checklist.
- 2. Warnings are tiered. Critical items (burgundy) cover issues that will likely break playback: an Apple Music track not downloaded for offline use, Apple Music access not granted, a local file missing from the device, or a segment with no playable moments. Worth-checking items (lighter shade) are informational: a moment with no tracks, or a battery below 30% and not charging.
- 3. The operator checklist asks you to confirm Airplane Mode (cellular devices only), Do Not Disturb, that your audio system is connected and tested, and battery if it's low. The Airplane row reads your device's state automatically and shows a Yes or No pill — there's nothing to tap. Do Not Disturb is a manual check: switch it on in Control Centre first, then tap the row to confirm.
- 4. If any Apple Music tracks aren't downloaded, an Open Apple Music button drops you straight on the Wedding Player Ceremony playlist's download arrow. Once you return to Wedding Player, the readiness sheet refreshes automatically.
- 5. Start the Ceremony activates only after every checklist row is satisfied. The button turns gold and a subtle scale-up confirms it's ready. One tap hands you to Live Mode.
What is the airplane icon in Live Mode?
- 1. The Airplane icon shows whether Airplane Mode is on. When it's red, Airplane Mode is off and calls, texts, or system alerts could interrupt the ceremony.
- 2. Tap the icon to open Settings, then switch Airplane Mode on yourself (iOS no longer allows apps to deep-link to that toggle). The indicator turns green once it's active.
- 3. Enable Airplane Mode before every ceremony, ideally during the pre-flight check when you first tap Go Live.
Can someone else control the music on the day?
- 1. Yes. Live Mode is designed exactly for this. Hand your device to your venue coordinator or a trusted friend once Live Mode is active.
- 2. The large-button interface is straightforward to use without any knowledge of how the app was set up.
- 3. Brief them beforehand on which button starts each moment, and run a rehearsal so they're confident.
How do I prepare for offline use on the day?
- 1. All local audio files work offline automatically. No action needed.
- 2. For Apple Music tracks (iOS): open the Offline Readiness page in Settings and follow the instructions there to download every track and verify it's ready for offline playback.
- 3. Enable Airplane Mode during the ceremony to block calls and notifications.
- 4. Charge your device fully the night before. Keep the app in the foreground and don't close it between moments.
Troubleshooting
No sound is playing
- 1. Check your device's physical volume buttons.
- 2. Make sure the mute switch on the side of the device is off.
- 3. If using Bluetooth or an external speaker, confirm it's connected and selected as the audio output.
A track won't play or shows as missing iOS
- 1. For local files: the file may have been moved or deleted from the device. Remove it from the moment and re-import it.
- 2. For Apple Music tracks: check your subscription is active and the track is downloaded for offline use (see Offline Readiness in Settings).
- 3. If the file was in iCloud Drive and has been removed from your device, download it in the Files app first.
- 4. Try closing and reopening the app if the issue persists.
A track won't play or shows as missing Android
- 1. The file may have been moved or deleted from your device. Remove it from the moment and re-import it.
- 2. Check the file format is supported: MP3, M4A, and WAV files work. FLAC and OGG are not currently supported.
- 3. Try closing and reopening the app if the issue persists.
Volume levels are inconsistent between tracks iOS
- 1. Wedding Player normalises volume automatically when you import a local file, bringing everything to a consistent level.
- 2. If a track still sounds noticeably louder or quieter, try removing and re-importing it.
- 3. On iOS, if Apple Music tracks vary in volume, check that Sound Check is enabled in Settings → Music on your iPhone.

- 2. If a track still sounds noticeably louder or quieter, try removing and re-importing it.
A track has a padlock icon and won't play iOS
- 1. A padlock means the file has DRM protection and can't play outside Apple's own apps.
- 2. This affects music purchased from the iTunes Store before 2009, when Apple used FairPlay copy protection.
- 3. Check your iTunes purchase history. Apple has upgraded many older purchases to DRM-free versions you can re-download at no cost.
- 4. Alternatively, if the song is on Apple Music, add it directly inside Wedding Player without any file management.
A file doesn't appear when I tap Add Files iOS
- 1. The Files picker only shows files visible to the iOS Files app.
- 2. Make sure your file is in iCloud Drive, On My iPhone, or a connected cloud service like Dropbox or Google Drive (with their iOS apps installed).
- 3. If the file shows a cloud icon (not yet downloaded to the device), tap it once in the Files app to download it before importing.

Restore Purchases isn't working
- 1. Make sure you're signed in with the same account used for the original purchase.
- 2. Tap Restore Purchases in Settings → Account.
- 3. If it still doesn't work, contact support with your original purchase receipt.
